Please keep in mind that supplementation only makes sense if we at least follow a healthy diet. And that it can only reach its full potential when we exercise, detox and strive for mental well-being as well. Without the implementation of such a foundation - especially without proper nutrition, it will be inefficient, bordering on a total waste of time and effort.
However, if based on the proper foundation, supplementation can help us boost our health far beyond what is considered normal for our physiological age.
In the media we see is a lot of back and forth whether supplements are helpful, useless or even do harm. Oversimplification is used to offer easy answers to complex topics. The view is narrowed down to cheap multivitamins that only contain a few vitamins and minerals that can easily be obtained from a balanced diet and not really considering the targeted and scientifically proven compounds, that make up a good supplement regimen.
We should consume media and studies on supplements carefully, since the parties involved frequently do not have our best interest in mind, but follow their own agenda. Research is often sponsored by large pharmaceutical companies who obviously won't spend money to prove that cheap, non-patentable plant extracts can prevent or heal the very same diseases they make a fortune on by selling their expensive products. Studies based on experimenting with mice or other rodents can only be partially transferred to the human realm.
In order to make an informed decision we need to review each of the compounds in question and cross reference their use by multiple trusted sources. We have done this for all of the elements listed in our regimen down below. For further information we have linked the supplements to the LEF website that does a nice job at explaining their usefulness and offers links to further research on each of them.
The supplements that we use in our regimen are almost all natural substances that we either already have in our body anyhow, albeit in sub-optimal quantities, or are extracts of fruits, berries and other plants that are extremely beneficial to our health.
The individual supplements are grouped under various headlines to make the list a bit more accessible. However, we should keep in mind that most of the supplements have multiple avenues of action. E.g. MCP - Modified Citrus Pectin is both acting as a chelation agent to remove heavy metals and has proven to be cancer protective as well.
The respective amounts of the compounds always refer to the whole daily serving of the supplement.
Several of the listed supplements are combination products, that conveniently unite multiple compounds in a single product, thus reducing the daily pill count.
The suggested regimen is for healthy people, that have implemented the building blocks of the foundation. If we suffer any medical issues we use it as a basis and modify it according to our needs.
Btw: We are not affiliated with Life Extension, whom we use as our primary source for our supplements. We think their approach of focussing on health- and life-extension aligns perfectly with what we try to achieve with our supplement regimen. Quality wise reviews of their products at ConumerLab are always top notch.
